At the risk of being pedantic I fear you may possibly be referring to the 5/4 Bayreuth model whereas the original poster enquired about the 6/4??

The BBb Bayreuth model is 5/4 on the Rudy scale but most all others would have it down as 6/4. This model is, by all accounts, a GREAT tuba; World Class! This instrument beat the MW Fafner and other 5/4 BBb's entered into the competition for when it was launched. It's designed using extensive computer aids and has great pitch, response and the magic Rudy sound. As Sam says, go for it if you have the $$$($$$$)...

I can see little reason in opting for the gigantic 6/4 over the already massive 5/4 Bayreuth. As it says on the website, the 6/4 is designed simply for maximum sound output. It's a true 'Kaiser' tuba and as such, must be more cumbersome to play than its smaller (but still bigggg) sister, the Bayreuth.

Good luck,
MP
