I've seen clear and golden lacquer for sale from some instrument part dealer online. I think it was UMI or something like that. I wouldn't try to re-do your sousie, but if it's a junker, why not? It's always good to experient and learn as long as we aren't going to piss off a band director. Good luck...If you find something that works well let us know!
