Hey Josh,

When I needed a strap for my 188 while I was working at Disneyland (and later at Walt Disney World) I went to a place that sells horse tack (bridles, saddles, etc.). I made a sketch (with approximate mesurements) of the buckle clasps that would go thru the strap rings, the size of the pad for my shoulder and another belt-esque section after the padding for even more comfort adjustment. The leather worker even asked if I would like him to put some lambs wool on the padded part for a little extra comfort. I thought that was a great idea. and said "yes!"

The whole thing cost me around $25 and I still have that strap. It's 23 years old and looks like new. Pretty good considering all of the sweating I did outdoors for 15 years. If you wipe it down and put nutral polish on it occasionally it'll last for, well at least 23 years… maybe more!

I found mine… good luck with your search for the perfect strap.

Cheers,
Bob
