The irony is that my kids' band is marching to classical music but...it's really entertaining, no doubt in part because it's very dramatic music. The only thing I would fault the directors on (as far as making it a much more educational experience) is that they didn't let the kids listen to the original pieces at any time. In my book, that's a lost learning opportunity. Just a guess on my part, but it would probably help them do a better job of playing if they had heard the originals. Or at least they would have had a context.
I have learned something from posting, really appreciate everyone's comments. Guess I'll just have to grit my teeth during the stuff I think is boring!
