In all ranges I use the placement for the word "Toe". It keeps my tongue placed properly and allows the air to flow freely (rather than "Tee").
For me, the key has been not to be conscious of where the tongue is going but to sing the song with "Toe" as the word. Using this as my guide, the tongue will always be placed corretly while I am concentrating not on where my tongue should go but on making music.
