Tome Ashworth does not teach the tuba. He teaches the trombone and euphonium. Ross Tolbert, principal tubist of Minnesota Orchestra teaches the tuba. Ross is a fantastic tuba teacher and player. Out of all the teachers listed, he is the only one who plays in a major (AA) orchestra, if that matters. (I can't remember if Columbus is AA or A.)
I think, a list like this is almost impossible to put together. Perantoni might be the best teacher for you, but may not be true for the other student. Some may do better in big city and some may not. How important is it for you to hear a major orchestra every week. Etc. What may be number one for you is not necessary so to the others. Have you studied with all the teachers who is listed or are you relying on a creditable research or just based on other people's opinion or just rumors?
