Ian,

Developing your chops is a process that never ends, but especially in the HS years you may find that lose some range when you start using your air better (warmer, less tension, etc...). It will only be a temporary thing if this is the case, but it may last awhile. I have found that a lot of people will try to overcompensate by using more pressure or trying to push the air through the instrument out of frustration when this occurs and usually their sound and accuracy suffers. I reccommend being patient and keep working on the things you know you should especially your overall sound, lower range and breathing.

I assume you are taking lessons, but if you aren't....I would reccommend doing so as soon as possible from a local pro. The teacher can help you through this much better than any of us speculating how to help you from this BBS.

Good luck!

Mark
