Many of those horns, including the one I used to own, say Perantucci on them. There is no PT-? numbering system on them. The ones that are pre-Perantucci, that have no other name than B&S, are simply being identified by the current model numbering system to let us know what the horn is comparable to now.

Example: The F tuba I had was the same horn as the current PT-10. The specifications were the same. Identifying it as a pre-PT horn was confusing so I always said it was pre-PT-10. Then anyone knew what I was talking about.

There is no attempt being made to confuse anyone. Rather it is the other way around. There is an attempt to clarify what would otherwise be rather confusing.
