I guess this would be an option to help our young friend feel better. If the BD is innocent then he will probably shrug the note off, no harm done. But if he is guilty then I don't think the note would deter him because the behavor probably has some deep rooted psychological thing going on. Only a guess. That's it for my armchair psychology.
