I bought a Kalison KAB77 new last year. I chose it in a back to back test with models of similar size and larger from Hirsbrunner, Meinl and B&S. I think I tried out nine horns in all.
The Kalison stood out in terms of sound from all of them except the Hirsbrunner which was £3000 more expensive and was an example with rather erratic tuning. The Kalison has exceptionally good tuning. The build quality is also very fine (I speak as a longstanding user of Eb Hirsbrunners).
Are these horns rated by anyone else out there or am I just the lucky owner of a really nice specimen of a less than well loved model? I never see the KAB77 discussed anywhere as a good choice of CC.
