There are conflicting opinions on this. The official line is that otherwise identical instruments labeled Besson or Boosey and Hawkes are the same.

Some Boosey owners insist that the best instruments that came off the line were saved for the home market and labeled Boosey and Hawkes, while those that weren't as good were exported to the U.S. and marked Besson. I personally don't believe a word of it, but then my euphonium is a Besson, heh, heh.

And there was a time during which the traditional B&H model names (e.g. Imperial) were used on Bessons (which previously would have been labeled "New Standard" instead of Imperial). This was during the 70's when the Boosey and Hawkes label was being phased out.

They were all definitely made in the same factory by the same workers, who reportedly would not have even known what label was intended for the instrument they were assembling.
