Check out the following link for Oberloh Brass out of Washington State.
The link takes you to a page about a Edwards Bass Trombone they modified. If you scroll down the page, Dan Oberloh includes information on a trombone support stand.
I don't know the extent of the injury, but would imagine that if all else fails, Oberloh could design, build, and/or modifiy a horn so that he could play it.
