I will admit in front of everyone here that I've never worked on a Conn "6/4" FRONT-action, but are you certain that the bore is over .8"? The top-actions are .770" bore, I think. Are you measuring the i.d. of the outside slide or inside slide?
You guys should take a look at the Conn FRONT-action that Tom bought. It doesn't have the predictable "slant" configuration. The valves are more "vertical", like the CSO Yorks, Holtons and Nirschl-valveset Euro-made instruments.
