It all depends upon the scale of measurement. The VMI "Neptune" model tuba is marketed as a 7/4 size tuba, but is not as large as a 2165, a 6/4 instrument, but closer to the size of a PT-6, which is a 5/4 instrument. Now, Rudolf Meinl's 5/4 C tuba is larger than the 5/4 PT-6, and Rudolf Meinl's 6/4 BBb tuba is the largest production tuba on the face of the Earth. The initial impression is that you're holding a tuba the size of a telephone booth, although they are very well-mannered and play great. For anyone that wants undisputed bragging rights about the size of their tuba, it only costs about $15,000US.
