I played the Willson3400 in July when I was looking to replace my f tuba. I really liked it a lot. But I didn't buy it because it sounded a little too big to replace an f tuba and I already have a great cc tuba.
My thoughts as I was leaving the Brasswind were that the Willson would be perfect if I could only own one instrument(and needed to do quite a bit of quintet and solo work).
I didn't experiment with it much, however, I suspect you could really do a lot with that tuba. Maybe use a PT48 or 88 for larger ensemble situations and a Dillon/sheridan or a Bobo solo mouthpiece for solo and quintet playing.
