Oops! Looks like I opened a can of worms. The reason that I prefer CC horns for Dixie type music is I originally was an accordian and piano player. So of course I learned to read bass and treble clef in concert pitch. Then I picked up trumpet and and of course read the parts straight across as treble clef. Then when I picked up the tuba, all of a sudden I had to add a whole step to the way I read bass clef on the BBb axes. That really screwed me up. So I started playing CC axes. My career has had me performing studio sessions in LA, Chicago, and Orlando along with live performances at house of the mouse on both coasts and several dixie groups both here in the U.S. and in Japan. On the Eb issue, there are a lot of dixie tunes in C, F, and Dm not to mention many bridges in Am. Try those on an Eb axe. I just find it easier to play and read on the CC family of horns.
