I have played just one Rudy 5/4 BBb. That was at Dillon Music about seven years ago and I loved it. A well made instrument with a huge sound but very responsive. Rudys are open and blow very freely....one of my personal preferences. I considered buying it but I found a Rudy 5/4 CC in Chicago. As a matter of fact it was playing the BBb that inspired me to wait for a CC. The one I tried had 4 modern rotary valves with external springs just like every other rudy I've played. I don't know where you could go right now to play one but I'll keep my ears open.
