I use mouthpieces that have the same rim size and shape on my Eb tuba or my CC the difference is mp depth and bore. Using a small mouthpiece to achieve a higher upper register might work but I have found that the smaller mp adversely affects the low register and most tuba solos/concertos are both high and low. I would rather get the results by conditioning myself and the use of alternate fingerings to achieve the upper register without sacrificing overall sound and low register abilities.
