I hope I am not saying the same thing as the other excellent posts. On my CC and my F tuba I have basically the same range. I am able to play my MW 182 F tuba a tone or two higher (and lower) than on my CC, but not by much in either direction. I think this extended range, as minimal as it is, is because of more resistance rather than the length of tubing. The difference is in the timbre and projection. In short, Assuming you have enough valves to facilitate the low register (5 or 6), they key of the instrument is more related to tonal color than range.
