Works great in quintet. Just right for the ~30 piece local town band, but...when I try to balance the sound of the 55 piece ensemble where I also play, I can't do it. It just won't push that hard. When Matt's there with the big Yammy BBb, the two of us can do the job fine, but alone -- I get lost. Maybe the big Willson Eb could do it. I haven't played one, but I want to. Probably the Conn Giant Wonder now at Dillons could do it. Not sure, and, of course, YMMV.
My point is: range is interesting, but it's not the only significant factor.
Playing well is the best revenge...
