After many years with MW, Sam has moved on to the new Besson CC, which is very much like the 4/4 Nirschl. As of this past June, he had the prototype and did not travel with it for two major reasons. First, he said that he didn't want to risk damage to the prototype, and second, he said that he didn't have a flight case he trusted for a (at this point) one-of-a-kind horn (which goes back to the first reason). The F tuba that Sam plays is an early B&S Perantucci PT-10. This is the only single horn that he has owned for a long period of time. A few years ago we spoke about this very thing. He said that he had a new Bell Model MW just about every year or so because they would just get too beat up. Sam has owned many other horns over the years...Hirsbrunners, Yamahas, Getzens, Meinls, Perantucci's, Bessons, etc.
