I think it would be an excellent CC tuba regardless of if you are learning CC on it or not. Although sometimes we "can't," I think the best thing to do if you can is to buy the CC tuba you want for the long haul the first time, that is buy your "starter" CC with the intent of using it in college and beyond. Buying one horn now only to discover you want or need something else later is an expensive mistake.

Pt-88 is a great choice. Never used it on a 2145 (my time with the 2145 is very limited), but I think it would work nicely for what you described. Every now and then they pop up used here. In fact I just sold a PT-88 mega a few weeks ago (had two...kept one).
