To paraphrase and old saying: "He who speaks of money first, loses." In other words, let them name a price first, rather than making an offer. Then you can counter offer if you think it is too high. I believe that the discounted selling price for these new is between $5000 and $6000, but I haven't priced them recently. Based on this a $3000 price sounds reasonable.
