About the only additional wrinkle I've heard of is to go ahead and put a bit of oil on the ends of the shaft as he said, but then to pull the appropriate valve slide without opening the valve and theoretically this will help to pull the oil into the valve a bit.
Plus a fair amount of oil down the leadpipe, and I usually play a bit afterwards to hopefully blow some oily air through the valves
