If I might post on the technical electronic stuff. Bass (a subwoofer) is omni-directional, it really will not make much of a difference where in the room it is placed, a corner might make it a little bit louder, but it will not give it a warmer sound. As for regular speakers. I have a 5.1 surround system. Each of the 4 front/rear speakers are placed in the top 4 corners of the room. It allows them to have 3 planes-or walls- surrounding, and amplifying the sound.
