Condition is everything. I own two King bell front Eb tubas with front action valves. They are very large in terms of Eb horns and are in good condition. I paid $400 for one and $525 for the other. Eb horns don't command as high a price as BBb ones. Unless your friend's horn is of special quality or condition, it is probably worth $350-500.
