As Klaus mentioned, Glassl makes a fiberglass tuba. The Glassl tubas are pictured in the revised edition of the Bevan book The Tuba Family. There was quite a bit of discussion in the Bevan book about the relative quality that specific alloys produced in the construction of brass instruments. I believe Bevan quotes a French study where a trumpet was made out of cheese and was played behind a screen with other brass instruments. Those listening could not distinguish the cheese instrument from the others. For what it's worth.
