It's true that you may get a more compact/focused sound from the 186. Some folks might mistake that for a "bigger" sound, but I think a PT-6 is clearly a better choice for playing in larger ensembles such as a band. In my opinion, intonation quirks are a reasonable price to pay for a superior sound.
