I've heard of some using the lead-free solder, but I really like how plain old 60/40 and 70/30 Sn-Pb solder flows and handles. On rebuilding, I have to admit that I don't know if a mixture of old leaded left on a joint and new lead-free solder would result in a weaker joint. I figger that there are 100 year old instruments out there with the solder still holding on, so it's been field-tested for as long as I care to think about it.

Eventualy the gummint's probably going to outlaw leaded solder, so you might as well enjoy it while you can.

As for flux, my bottle says Sta-Kleen. It's from the Jw Harris company. Good stuff.
