the Conns of that era seem to have good parts for the most part, but the assembly wasn't carefully done. One of my customers brought me a Conn of that vintage, and we discovered that the lacquer was all that had held one side of the bottom bow together since it was new! After de-denting the bottom bow and properly reassembling it (with solder), he was amazed at how substantial the horn felt. I have a 12J in my shop now that was dropped, apparently, and someone made minor repairs without taking the time and trouble to realign all the valve slides. Once it's properly done, it'll be better than new!
