The one I tried, I preferred over the Besson 983 that I bought based on the more open low register response (non-compensating). However, there were significant intonation difficulties with the particular model I was playing that forced me away from it. I've asked on more than one occasion whether anyone has ever purchased one that had good intonation. One east coast professional player replied that he had a good one -- that he only had to have two tuning slides cut and only then needs to use a few alternate fingerings to achieve this "good" intonation!
