I had one for a while that was about 25 years old but in excellent condition. The most important characteristic on that horn was its very flat fifth partial. Middle E had to be 1&2 instead of open, with the 1st slide in. Middle of the staff D worked best with the 4th valve instead of 1. That would be stuffy on most tubas, but the Cerveny bore is so big that it works well for them. I have been told that all piggies are not alike in terms of intonation, so you would be wise to try a few before you choose.
