Agreed. I realize that I mostly talk about playing the F tuba, but I can make quite a respectable racket on a 4/4,5/4,6/4 (etc.) CC, and have owned around 15 or so various CC contrabasses. (The previous statement was because many who read my way-to-frequent posts might assume that I would champion the F tuba for virtually any piece or any application.)

What I am agreeing to (after qualifying - or probably disqualifying - myself) is that the F tuba is a good choice for this symphony. I never thought of the Franck D minor as a symphony that required a "plow". However, if all one has in one's arsenal IS a plow, it can be made to do nicely as well.
