No, I'm talking boredom. Eyes rolling. Smirking. Slumped shoulders. Lack of attentiveness. In fact, as a trombone player I was particularly aware of a lack of focus by the trombones. There were three different sound concepts coming at me, and I heard no serious attempt to follow the lead (and one of the trombonists was the contractor!) No, I know the look of intensity and concentration, and in my most joyous moments there may be no smile on my face, but there's an intensity, a fire within, that shows in the eyes and in the posture, and that emerges in the sound of an orchestra. I heard fine instrumentalists, and virtually no technical mistakes, but the result was flat and uninspiring. I know, most of the people in that room probably thought they sounded fine, but I'll bet no one acquired a love for the music.

Well, gotta clear out & get some sleep.
