I hate to see Jay have to flail against the wind to defend what he has to do. If you haven't tried to make your living only as a working musician there's no way you can appreciate what they are trying to gain. The sacrifice is not only for themselves, but for all others who want to be professionals in the future. Management doesn't have a clue about the quality of professional musician they have employed.

Jay, and the other members of the orchestra, won their jobs against high quality competition. They aren't schmo's off the street, they are highly skilled artists. Gripe about $36k and a "part-time job"!! A major league 2nd baseman hitting .240 is going to make millions of dollars in his part-time job. If these musicians were playing at the same percentage, they'd be out on the street!

I extend my best wishes to these striking musicians. I hope the National Office backs you up.
