I'm in the Conservatory at Wheaton College. My audition piece was "His Majesty the Tuba" by Dowling. It's a good piece with several different variation styles in it. If you look on the Conservatory's website, the pieces mentioned for the audition include Haddad Suite, Air and Bouree' (Bach), Concertino (Frackenpuhl), and Adagio and Allegro (Telemann). Of course, these are simply pieces to give a guidline as to the level of difficulty that the audition should meet. Suggested legato etudes to use include those of Fink, Concone, or Bordegni/Rochnet. Then, technical etude suggestions include those of Tyrell, Kopprasch, or Arban. Good luck with your audition! Where are you auditioning?
