I recently acquired a Weril 680 (not from Joe) and find that you can relly get the low sounds out. They do not rattle walls and shake floors but they are quite discernable.
I have also learned, from two weeks of playing, that a fairly large mouthpiece enriches
the tone of the horn (King 26, Conn 2). The weight of the mouthpiece seems to be important; the horn comes with a light weight but fairly large mouthpiece that does not
have this effect. If you want a piercing, sharper sound, I have found a Bobo Solo produces it as does an Ericson 2. A Yamaha 67C4 is not quite so good at this but tends to have this effect. I have played a 323 and did not consider it when I made my purchase because I thought the sound and the intonation were inferior.
