I played a Meinl-Wesson with a McCracken carbon fiber bell. It responded well and sounded ok, but it didn't resonate at all. Andy Kochenaur of the Dixie Power Trio plays a Bohm-Meinl with a carbon bell, but Andy could make a sewer pipe sound great. If you have a bad back, get one, if not, don't. IMHO.
