I found (at the advice of my teacher) that it was actually easier to learn triple tonguing first and then apply that to double-tounguing. Start slow, just saying
"ta-ka-ta ta-ka-ta . . ." until you can say it perfectly. Then do it on the horn, again, starting slowly. Also, don't forget to keep the air going while you're doing it, that was something that held me back.
