I believe most textbooks list the human hearing range is being 20hz-20khz. To the best of my knowledge 20hz is somewhere between pedal E and F. I feel like I can maintain a fairly solid sense of pitch down to about pedal E. Below that you can tell it's lower but that's about it. I find that if I attempt a double pedal C in a large room/hall it is more likely to sound like something than it does in a smaller room.
