I have owned several Cerveny horns , and have been pleased with all of them. I feel they represent very good value for your hard-earned dollars.
They are owned by the large Czech corporation that produces the Amati line of instruments. Because Amati has had some quality-control problems in the past, Cerveny instruments have sometimes been viewed with suspician by players who have not actually played one. This is unjustified. Cervenys are excellent instruments, and I believe are built in a city and factory separate from the Amati operation (correct me if I am wrong.) Several American orchestral tubists have included Cerveny tubas in their armory, including the former Dallas Symphony tubist who used one on their recording of one of the big Shostakovich works.
