The St. Pete has a leadpipe far too narrow for its rather large bore. Which makes it hard to fill for low pressure/wide airflow type of players.

Vincent Bach wrote that a too narrow mouthpiece throat bore will flatten an instruments top register. If the bore is opened not only the top register will have its pitch sharpened. So will the low register.

Choosing a mouthpiece with the right degree of openness might better the St. Pete tuning situation in case by raising the low register and by making it easier to provide a sufficient air support for effective intonation control.
