I use a Sony DAT Walkman that I got used, but I'm having some trouble with it right now. I also have a Sony Professional Walkman (there are two, this is the larger model) that produces unbelievably good sound from a cassette. The quality of sound using it is no comparison to the sound from most cassette decks- it's much closer to DAT sound. The stereo microphones from Audio-Technica and Sony ($250-350) are quite good, even a little clip-on that Sony sells for about $100 is not bad.
