Nope, wrong parameter. Length has a direct bearing on pitch. A C trumpet is half as long as a FRENCH C tuba (which is a whole step higher than a euphonium), which is half as long as any X/4 CC tuba.
Joe S. put it very accurately.It has to do with general size as it pertains to bore and bell width, more or less, but not length at all.
It's all more of a sales technique than an accurate description, if you ask me. My Rudolf Meinl 3/4 is bigger than your Yamaha 4/4 any day.
