My setup: Old Sony MZR70 recorder, old binaural mini-mikes from Core-Sound, SoundProfessionals dual channel preamp. 'Sounds better than the pro recordings done on DAT of our school performances.

Really any recent model with mic input will be fine. Everybody will tell you different things about mikes, recorders, etc.

I just put here what I use because it works really well for me. Newer models have better battery life, more features etc. When I record, I usually use the home current through the adapter and just plug it into the wall. It is a little more reliable to record on home source, rather than batteries.

These are just what I have found that works for me, and you will see different responses, suggestions, etc.

Also, do some research on www.minidisc.org and you will find alot of info there. It took me a while for my setup. Good luck in your search!
