I used to carry all of my tuba supplies around in a zippered case wrapped in a towel that I put in the bell. Other than leading to some interesting dents, I had waxed the tuba before state competition, and had the wax in this towel. When I removed it the next day, the wax slipped out and lodged in the bell side of the bottom bow. That was an interesting item to get out.

Also, the local high school had a Conn 20J that had played so stuffy that no pitch could be centered above pppp volume. We sent it in to the repairman, and it came back with the reciept saying that a dead bird had been removed from the bows of the horn.(!)
