Doing SOMETHING with the 5th is good idea. I recently had a sax roller key added to the trigger so I didn't have to reach as far. I really think the hinge points could be moved providing a much shorter range of motion. Buddy 'o mine, Mike Teague, thinks he can do this successfully without alot of trial and error. So I'm seriously considering it. But I would be very interested to see what you do with v. no. 5. I also felt like I was reaching a bit for the valves so had the lead pipe angle adjusted so that the horn is turned a bit more to the right. I believe that falls in line with you lifting the lead pipe off the bell. Would love to see a picture when your're done.
