Nobody outside of Yamaha knows for sure and I don't know if the CC and/or the F were based on the Schilke F but both look very similar to me.

How about this: I played the Schilke F tuba that was being developing for Arnold Jacobs in the early 80's. It was a nice horn with some intonation problems.

Schilke and Jacobs lost interest in the horn and it became "the Christmas tree horn" at the shop and a source of parts for some other horns. After Reynold died I asked the shop manager about buying it and he said something about it being part of a development deal with Yamaha, but he was being obtuse about it.

The next time I saw a similar horn it was a Yamaha CC. I believe both the CC and F were based on the Schilke F tuba design but does anyone know for sure?

Can anyone fill in the gaps. Just for fun...
