The Effie Suite actually is a bit harder than it sounds. Maybe another choice in solo may be better because you never know what kind of person you'll be playing for. I remember playing it for a student recital and my band director (trumpet player) told me I did good, but I should consider something basically of a more "real" repretoire. Where I told Jim Self and John Van Houten in the LA area about it and they told me that it's a great choice for student recitals.

So with that to consider, I personally think the "Takes a Dancing Lesson" and "Falls in Love" would be good to show musicality. The "Chases a Monkey" would be good for technique. Maybe one or two from those suggestions and a Bach cello suite would be good. But then again, you may run into people who will sneer at this "unserious" work, despite its craft.
