FWIW, I recently traded in a current model King 2341 on a Miraphone 191. It sounds _HUGE_ next to the King, so I feel I can play it at the same volume with _LESS_ effort. The King has a .687 bore (?) and the Mirafone has .835.
I think it is a widely held misperception that larger bore instruments require more air.
The 191 also has the quietest, best "feeling" rotary valves of any I've tried, and doesn't need to be "spun" to get all the water out like the King did. The later was a problem on some of the crowded community bandstands I play on.
